Core taught modules

Foundations for Law and Research (15 credits)
Understand the foundations of international law and research, exploring legal systems, critical thinking, and research skills. Gain hands-on experience in legal reasoning, referencing, and teamwork through practical assessments, preparing you for advanced studies and professional growth in global legal and commercial contexts.

Corporate Governance (15 credits)
Explore the principles of corporate governance and its global impact. Examine key topics such as directors’ duties, corporate social responsibility, and ESG integration, while developing critical research and problem-solving skills. Gain insights into creating ethical, sustainable and responsible business environments and addressing contemporary governance challenges.

International Contract Law (15 credits)
Examine the complexities of contract law in international transactions, focusing on issues such as sales contracts, bills of lading, and the CISG. This module deepens your understanding of balancing rights across diverse legal systems and enhances research, analytical, and problem- solving skills essential for navigating global trade agreements.

Technology Law (15 credits)
Examine the intersection of law, business, and technology in this module. Topics include data protection, ethical AI, and intellectual property for business technology users. You will develop skills in research, critical analysis, and problem-solving, applying your knowledge to advise organisations on technology law issues, such as data privacy, due diligence, and more.

International Banking and Finance Law (15 credits)
Explore the global legal frameworks that shape international financial architecture, learning key topics like bank supervision, prudential regulation, and the impact of digital currencies. You will develop critical research, communication, and problem-solving skills, applying your understanding to real-world issues in banking and finance.

International Financial Crime (15 credits)
Explore global legal frameworks to combat financial crime, including money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion, bribery, and fraud. Develop advanced research and analytical skills, applying your understanding to real-world challenges through assessments, preparing you to address complex issues in financial crime prevention.

World Trade Law (15 credits)
Explore the key institutions, principles, and frameworks governing world trade law and international economic relations. This module covers global trade organisations, regional agreements, and issues impacting developing countries. You will build skills in research, critical analysis, and problem- solving, applying world trade law to complex scenarios.

Intellectual Property Law (15 credits)
Explore international and European intellectual property law, focusing on copyright, patents, and new technologies. Final project

Legal Research Dissertation (60 credits)
In your final year, you’ll undertake an independent research project of 60-credits, applying your knowledge and skills to a real-world legal issue. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your expertise and make a meaningful contribution to the field.
